Some of us baby boomers can remember how things were in the 60′s and we can tell you that things changed back then. However, some of the liberals that came out of that era can say that they had the most profound change in the way we live today. To some conservatives it can be said that we lost our innocence with the free love and the easiness of a lifestyle.
The Annals of History could probably state that the 60′s exploded with a sense of self expression as well as the Age of Aquarius type of thinking when looking to the future. Unfortunately we have accepted social sin as being just a way for us to live, and we are now at the point in our nation’s history to lose our liberties due to God’s judgment on the way we have as a country have fallen into transgression, because of unresolved sin towards each other, by our selfishness and narcissism.
Well, it is time to clean up our society by getting right ourselves. Dr Phil says it well when he said, ” We can’t change what we don’t acknowledge”, and there is also the one that Oprah is known for, ” When we know better, we do better “.
Let us hope that people will turn inward and ask what do I need to do to make my life better? Asking God to reveal what it is about ourselves that is blocking a way to our happiness. We have to have the courage to ask, and for another for us to be courageous enough to accept what God shows us.
The Twelve Step program includes the ” Moral Inventory of Ourselves “. Just having the courage to change so that we can have wonderful relations with people. Enriched relationships that go beyond the imagination that we could ever imagine.
Imagine what it would be like if all of us were to have enriched relationships with people in that we know the depth of the relationship to be very deep as well as meaningful. We can change this self centered and self absorbed nation of ours to change, starting with the Congressional Leadership so that we can live the way that God intended the inhabitants of the “Promised Land” to live.
If we do not change the way we live, we will lose our precious blessings that came from our Creator of Happiness. There has however, been times in history that Americans have had prayer day, which goes back to the days that our country was formed. Do you not think that this would be a good reason to try to go back to our roots and correct the wrong that has been done to our nation?
We have to start cleaning up ourselves and the way we treat people. We need to learn to get along with each other, even if they do not agree with us on issues. We have to find common ground so that we can communicate without an agenda. We need to put politics aside and trust in our God to lead us out of this mire. We all need to ask for forgiveness and get on with life!
For Our Day, I hope to be a positive influence to you as my readers. I hope to pour out my heart the love that we need for each other. How about we start with lighting a candle of hope for our future as a nation.
May we continue to be the City On The Hill people that shines the light of hope to the world so that we can help those that suffer tyranny and human rights violations, again! Just like it used to be. Let us lead the world with hope and be a part to the resolve of the world’s problems.
It is time for the way showers to show up and lead by example. Please send us your stories so we can share them with others. It is a good thing that there are way showers because if we all wear blinders over our eyes, then nobody can see the light.
Have a Blessed Day!
Sincerely,
Terrance and Janiel Norton
